Roman Carnival Overture
Chaconne for Violin and Orchestra
Kerson Leong, Violin
Fountains of Rome
Pines of Rome
We begin the season in Rome with Berlioz’s sparkling Roman Carnival Overture. Then we take a side-trip to Cremona for Corigliano’s Chaconne for violin and orchestra crafted from his Red Violin film score. The soloist is the brilliant young Ottawan, Kerson Leong. Back in Rome we conclude with two of Respighi’s epic tone poems – The Fountains of Rome and The Pines of Rome.
